Lonnie was born late in his parent's life. He enjoyed the prosperity of his father's success and grew up on the beach at OceanView, VA. He attended catholic school. His father Jim died suddenly of a heart attack when he was 16 years old, changing everything. He moved to California with his mother and began college. An avid baseball player, he received a scholarship to Southern Cal. In his freshman year, he was invited to the White Sox camp. But Butch was still reeling from the loss of his dad and change of life situation. He moved back to Virginia, leaving college and baseball. On the beach at OceanView, he met the beautiful Anne Dover and politely told her he would marry her. At his death, they were married 58 years. They have three children, 5 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Butch was a tile and marble setter who was commissioned by architects to design fountains and mosaic artwork. In his early years as a tile setter, he was part of 5 teams of tilers who worked in the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. He and his brother Jim began an award winning business, Cooke Brothers Tile in eastern Virginia. In 1973 he moved his family to north Georgia and worked building nuclear power cooling towers across the nation until retiring.

He and Anne moved to Tallahassee, FL in 2000. He died of cancer in 2005. People remember Butch as being, 'the life of any party.' He knew how to have fun and make people laugh. What they do not know is this man could sing and he sang for his Lord Jesus Christ. I bet if you stop just a minute, you can hear him now.

Love ya daddy and I was proud of you.
