Funeral services for Helen Maxine Black Akins, 74, of Granbury will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2004 at Wiley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Acton Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association or a charity of choice.
Mrs. Akins died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 in Granbury. She was born Dec. 8, 1929 in Astoria, N.Y. She married Dorman Akins Nov. 29, 1970 at Houston.

She was raised on Long Island, N.Y. and graduated from nursing school at St. Luke's Presbyterian Hospital in 1952. She served in the U.S. Army and retired from Baylor College of Medicine in 1992.
She is survived by husband, Dorman Akins of Granbury; children, Scott Taylor of Garland, Tracey Stephens of Billingham, Wash. and Vickie Devore of Houston; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
