Edward H. Frey, 77, of Route 1, Troy, died yesterday morning at 8:45 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland. The son of the late Peter C. and Catherine Gobelman Frey, he was born Feb. 11, 1888, at St. Jacob. He married Mayme Adelhardt July 21, 1910, at Marine. His wife survives.
Other survivors are four sons, Raymond of Highland, and Alvin, Ottmer, and Edward, all of Troy; three daughters, Mrs. Pete (Irene) Hardy of Glen Carbon, Mrs. Walsh (Blanche) Bayer of Edwardsville, and Mrs. Lester (Marie) Gentry of Alhambra; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Carrie) Adelhardt and Mrs. (Alice) Spengel, both of Troy; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Frey, who previously farmed in the Collinsville and Troy areas for 25 years and was employed with the Illinois Treminal Railroad for 17 years until retirement in 1956, was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy.
Friends may call at the Edwards Funeral Home after 7 p.m. this evening until services Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ. Rev. R.H. Mornhingweg will officiate with interment to be at Friedens Cemetery in Troy.
