Oscar Lee Lively, 79, of Route 7, Owensboro, died Friday at 12:05 am at the Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital following a short illness. He was a farmer and sawmill operator.
Born Oct. 6, 1891, in Breckinridge County, he had lived in Daviess County most of his life and was a member of the Stanley Baptist Church and the Stanley Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of World War I.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Madeline Lively; three sons, James of Largo, Fla., David of Owensboro and Danny Ray of Stanley; five daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Stone of Winchester, Mrs. Anona Spencer of Inman, SC, Mrs. Margie Crabtree of Owensboro, Mrs. Billie June Cappelli of Montgomery, Ala., and Mrs. Jeanette Hester of Stanley; 22 greanchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother Robert Lively of Salida, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. William Holland of Cocoa Beach, Fla.
Services will be conducted at 10 am Monday at the Haley McGinnis and Owensboro Funeral Home chapel by the Rev. Wilbur Kerrick, pastor of the Stanley Baptist Church, and the Rev. A.E. Robinson Jr., pastor of the Karnes Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 am today.
Pallbearers were:
Honorary: Eugene Bell, Floyd Hall, Noah Pehlps, Joe Phelps, and Sam Rhoads.
Active: A.E. Robinson, Beverly Gregory, Kenneth Eblehar, O.D. Kirkendoll, Ferman Millay, and Martin Mullican.
Mr. Lively was a Deacon of Stanley Baptist Church and a Kentucky Colonel.
