Rev. John Russell will conduct funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service, 117 Holt Drive with interment in Brooksburg Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service, 117 Holt Drive from 12 noon Saturday, January 21, 2012 until time of service. A memorial service will be conducted by the Madison Chapter #530 Order of the Eastern Star at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service, 117 Holt Drive.

Mary Elizabeth Ashby Detterich, age 82, of Duluth, Minnesota and formerly of Switzerland County and Kokomo, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at her residence.

Born March 22, 1929 in Switzerland County, Indiana, she was the daughter of John R. and Ophelia (Schnaitter) Ashby, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Detterich in 2007; one daughter, Roberta J. Shomaker in 1983; two sisters, Mary Carolyn Ashby and Alice Vernon Heath; three brothers, Rev. David Ashby, Rex Ashby and John Charles Ashby.

Mrs. Detterich was employed at the Howard Community Hospital until her retirement in Kokomo, Indiana. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Kokomo, Order of Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth and White Shrine Greentown, Indiana Chapters.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in laws, Dr. Joyce A. Strand and Dr. Paul Deputy of Duluth, MN and Jo Shrock and James Gohn of Aberdeen, SD; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Russell Detterich and Cindy Rhodes of Kokomo, IN; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Light the Night Lymphoma Foundation. Contribution cards will be available at the Vail-Holt Funeral & Cremation Service.
