Loren Franklin Donelson, 88, Kokomo, passed away at 11:45PM December 21, 2011, at his residence here in Kokomo. He was born in Kokomo to the late Loren, and Artie (Gullian) Donelson, on February 6, 1923. On July 27, 1946, he married Betty Louise (Cass) Donelson in Kokomo. Betty passed away on September 19, 1999. Loren attended Kokomo High School and graduated with the class of 1943. He served in the United States Army during WWII as part of the 463rd Engineers. After the military, he went to work for Kolux signs as a neon tube bender for 44 years until retiring in 1987. He then worked for Kinder Signs as well as Kirby Signs part time. He served as the past president of the Kokomo Quarter Midget Club, and an “A” member of the IBW Union. He enjoyed all sports, and racing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving is his three children; Eric (Linda) Donelson, Kokomo, Jeffery (Mary) Donelson, Kokomo, Melissa (Andy Fernung) Mayfield, Kokomo, one sister-in-law, Anna Marie “Margie” Donelson, Greentown, one brother-in-law; James Clark, Kokomo, five grandchildren; Randal (Stacy) Donelson, Kokomo, Douglas (Tracy) Persons, Kokomo, Christopher (Meagan), Kokomo, Derek (Megan) Donelson, Kokomo, Amanda Donelson, Kokomo, five great grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death; are his parents; his wife, seven brothers; Fred Donelson, Lawrence Donelson, George Donelson, Kenneth Donelson, Everett Donelson, John Paul Donelson, Max Donelson, two sisters, Veva Donelson, and Mary Clark. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 South Main Street, with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Mausoleum with full military rites conducted by the United States Army and the VFW Kokomo military rites team.. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00PM until 9:00PM, Monday, December 26, 2011 at the mortuary
