US Senator. Served in the United States Army during World War I, rising from Lieutenant to Major, and served in France in the Army of Occupation. He was elected as a Senator from Indiana to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator Samuel M. Ralston, and served from 1925 to 1935.
