In 1862 Lucy's husband, Gideon, enlisted in the 127th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He received a disability discharge in 1863 due to injuries sustained in battle.
Lucy lived in Joliet until her death on March 27, 1905. After her death,Gideon remained in Joliet until his own death in 1911.
