Jesse married Thelma J Johnston January 21, 1938 after she graduated high school. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served as Radio Man aboard the Destroyer USS Douglas H Fox during WWII, surviving a Kamikazee attack. They had 5 children: 4 boys and 1 girl. Jesse worked hard to support his family as an iron worker and on the oil rigs summer and winter in Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, anywhere there was work. My mom says they were talking one night after work and he just slumped over dead of a heart attack. He was 45 years old.
