Dora A. Midcalf , 90, of 110 Marion Ct., Hiawatha, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in the Hiawatha Care Center following a long illness. At her request, private family services will be held. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
Survivors include her children, James Midcalf and wife Judi of Marion, Barbara Midcalf of Hiawatha and Peggy Stimson and husband Don of Aurora, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jodi Powers, Janel Brown, James Midcalf , Amy Stimson and Deani Tomasone; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Dennis, two sisters and three brothers.
Dora was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Manhattan, Kan., to Lester and Olive Bowers Churchill. She married Rolla "Jack" Midcalf on July 17, 1933, in Manhattan, Kan. Jack died Dec. 11, 1987. Dora worked in the Eddy Paper Co. factory from 1948 to 1963. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Dora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always giving her family her love in abundance. We will always remember that love and dedication to us. Special thanks to the Hiawatha Care Center Staff, St. Luke's 5 West nursing staff, dear friends at Seventh Day Adventist Church, and all of her good neighbors over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of East Central Iowa, 1642 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
