Born Lauritz Olausen in Kjos, Ullensaker, Akershus, Norway. Immigrated to Steele Co., Minnesota in 1869. Resettled in Grant Co., Minnesota in 1879. Married Anna Larson in 1884, and moved to Dakota Territory in 1885. He was granted homestead land in 1900. Resettled in Whatcom Co., Washington in 1920.
