LOUIS DOERNBACH , 81, who retired from the Navy, died June 26, 1994, in Colorado Springs.

A memorial service will be held in California. Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, is handling arrangements.

Mr. Doernbach was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Egg Harbor City, N.J., to William Doernbach and Augusta Deininger.

He entered the Navy July 10, 1931 at the Philadelphia Navy Recruiting Station and had continuous service until his retirement in 1951. He served during WW II as Chief Ordinance Control Technician on the Navy Destroyer USS Smith (DD–378).

He was married March 28, 1969, to Maude Smith, who survives.

He also is survived by two sons, two daughters and six grandchildren.

Mr. Doernbach had lived in the area since 1991.

He was a member of Fall Brook Masonic Lodge AF&AM and Pikes Peak Church of Religious Science.

He served in the Navy and attained the rank of chief ordnance control technician.
