Funeral service for Bonnie Ballentine Stevenson, 93, will be held Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, with burial in Bethel Lutheran Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel. Mrs. Stevenson died Thursday, May 14, 2009. Born in Ballentine, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Eusebius A. and Jenny Boozer Ballentine. Mrs. Stevenson graduated from Chapin High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She met her future husband, Buck, on Friday, September 13, 1935 and they were married on Friday, September 13, 1940. Mrs. Stevenson worked at the E.A. Ballentine Store and retired from the US Postal Service after 38 years as the Post Master at the Ballentine Post Office. She liked to collect stamps and music boxes and loved to fox hunt. Mrs. Stevenson was member of the Eastern Star. She was also a lifetime member of Bethel Lutheran Church. Mrs. Stevenson received the Service to Mankind Award from the Chapin Sertoma Club in 1989. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Buck Stevenson of Ballentine; sister, Myrtle B. Bull, also of Ballentine; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, S.C.
