She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. In return her family loves her more than words can express.
Underneath Sharon's calm, quiet exterior, beat the heart of a passionate crusader – a loving advocate for those with special needs and their families. Along with her role as the Vocational Education Coordinator for Hancock – South Madison Joint Services, she worked tirelessly with the Special Education Advisory Board, ARC, Dinosaur Discovery for Pre-school children, and the Special Olympics. Sharon spoke with a soft, quiet voice, but it shouted from the rooftops for those whose voices might otherwise not have been heard.
While having a servant's heart was a large part of who Sharon was, it was certainly not the only thing that made her so very special. Sharon was a great listener. No matter what you needed or wanted to talk about, she was there. What a wonderful friend and confidante she was. You could be sure that whatever you told her in confidence would not go any further. She was sympathetic, empathetic, and non-judgmental. To be her friend was to be greatly blessed.
To be a member of her family was joy. When asked, she would say her greatest achievement in life was being a mother of 4, and a grandmother of 10, but Sharon's idea of family was not limited to traditional family relations. If you were her friend, you were family. If you were a part of her family's lives, then you were family.
Sharon has left her children and grandchildren a legacy of love, service, and her tremendous faith in God. What better legacy to leave your loved ones?
Her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and friends miss her so very much, but we all thank God for the privilege of having had Sharon in our lives.
