Alma Ankeny
SPRINGFIELD — Alma Ruth "Ruthe" Ankeny of Springfield died Jan. 15 of age-related causes. She was 96. At her request, no service is planned.
She was born Oct. 16, 1915, in Fertile, Minn., to Irvin and Olive Thomas. She married Joseph Ankeny on Oct. 6, 1934, in Mason City, Iowa. He died Oct. 26, 2009.
She worked at Eugene Fruit Growers in the 1950s and was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Joel of Alvadore, Jon of Coburg and Jefre of Eugene; a daughter, Rita Franklin of Newport; a sister, Frances Arnold of Union, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. A son, James Ankeny, died in 1995.
