Barbara Jane Ackerman, 78, of Hanover died, December 12, 2006, at Foote Hospital in Jackson.

Mrs. Ackerman was born April 23, 1928, in Jackson, to Lester Sr. and Linnie (Foust) Sherer.

She married Richard Ackerman 58 years ago, and he survives.

Mrs. Ackerman worked 28 years in the Hanover-Horton School District as cafeteria manager.

She was a member of the Jackson County Food Association, the Pulaski Friendship Club and the Golden Anniversary Club.

She also served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and church steward at Pulaski Free Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ackerman is survived by three daughters; seven grandchildren, ; 13 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, ; four sisters-in-law and their families; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law, Raymond Dodd.

Burial in Pulaski Cemetery.
