Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday. March 9, in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Delbert Freeman and Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing.

Mrs. Blankenship was a life-long resident of Dale County, near Echo, the daughter of the late William Sherman Barefield and Leora Galloway Barefield. She was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Eston Blankenship.
Surviving are her daughter, Jeanelle Miles and her husband, George Miles, Phenix City; two sons, Marvette Blankenship and his wife, Geraldine Blankenship, Blakely, Ga.; Billy Blankenship and his wife, Gloria Blankenship, Echo; a sister, Girlie Riley, Spanish Fort; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; special friend and caregiver, Joan Strange, Phenix City; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Barefield, Duncansville, Pa., and Flora Belle Barefield, Echo; several nieces and nephews.
