LOGANSPORT, Ind. - Dorothy M. Alberts, age 93, Logansport, passed away at 10:28 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, in Logansport Memorial Hospital. Born in Reynolds on May 13, 1918, she was the daughter of Frank and Catherine Boone Nowviskie. Dorothy was married in Logansport on January 14, 1946, to Joseph Alberts, who preceded her in death on August 13, 1974. Dorothy had been employed in the office of Dr. L. J. Hillis. For twenty five years she was a sales associate at J. C. Penney in Logansport. Following retirement from Penney's she volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul store. A 1936 graduate of Logansport High School, she was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and All Saints Ladies Society. In earlier years she had been active in Cub Scouting and was a 50-year-member of Sigma Phi Gamma sorority. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame sports fan. Surviving are a daughter, Ann (Terry) Hook, Charleston, Ill., and sons, John Alberts (companion Karen), San Diego and Mike (Clella) Alberts, Pittsboro, Ind. Also surviving are a sister, Helen Weaver, Logansport; grandchildren, Joe (Julie) Alberts, Chris (Sierra) Alberts, Richard (Vicki) Hook, Robin (Fred) Laird and David (Kay) Alberts; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Nowviskie and Eugene Nowviskie, and a sister, Rita Grady. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kroeger Funeral Home, Logansport, where a Scripture Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Mike McKinney officiating. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Logansport.
