George K Williams, 97, a long time resident of Louisburg, Kansas, died Friday, June 26, 1953, at the Reece Hospital in Gardner, Kansas. He was born April 3, 1856, near Elizabethtown, Hardin County, Kentucky and came to Kansas when he was 21 years old. He settled near Louisburg, where he engaged in farming and lived in that community most of his long life. He was married to Miss Capitola Vertrees and four children were born to them, two of whom survive.
After the death of his wife, Mr Williams was later married to Miss Sarah Frances McDowell, who also preceded him in death. They were the parents of one son. Following the death of Mrs Williams, Mr Williams then made his home with his son, Homer A Williams, who lives near Spring Hill. He belonged to the Baptist Church and was a former member of the Masonic Lodge.
Besides his son, Homer, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs Ethel Beck of Gardena, California; a sister, Mrs Minnie Hinton, of Brooks, Texas; 9 granchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Church in Louisburg at two o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev Emil J Carlson officiating. Burial was in Glenwild cemetery.
