Services Monday for Dr. Alfred Evenson
Dr. Alfred B. Evenson, 52, veterinarian, died Thursday evening at Washington, Iowa. He was in the process of moving his family to Washington and he was found died in the house they were to live in there. The remainder of the family was still in Central City.
He was born October 5, 1916, at Rio, Wisconsin. On November 11, 1948, he was married to Mary "Betty" O'Meara at Central City. Dr. Evenson was graduated from high school in Sherman, South Dakota, and in 1942 received his BA at South Dakota State College at Brookings.
After serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II, he taught vocational agriculture at Central City high school for four years. He re-entered the nacy during the Korean conflict. In 1956 he received his DVM from Iowa State at Ames. He practiced veterinary medicine with Drs. Strader, Klopfenstein and Woghan until going into government veterinary service two years ago.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, John and Eric; three daughters, Kristin, Ann, and Barbara, all at home; a brother, Dr. Edward Evenson of Springfield, Illinois and two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Larson of Sherman, South Dakota, and Mrs. Robert Cavanaugh of Belleview, Illinois.
Services: Monday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist church with burial in Mt. Clark cemetery. Friends may call at the Murdoch chapel in Central City after 9 a.m. Sunday.
