Mrs. Fred (Nancy Harriet) Bass, 82, of 1715 Ravina Park Rd. died at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Decatur and Macon County Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 2.
She was born Feb. 26, 1885, in Coles County, the daughter of Coleman and Julia Ann Hanley Gilbert. She had lived in Decatur the past 50 years, coming here from Fayette County.
She was a member of Grace Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge, Starlight 767.
She married Fred Bass on July 19, 1902, in Vandalia. He died in July of 1944.
She leaves three sons, Charles of Decatur; Robert of Vista, Calif.; Gilbert of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Velma) Zellman of Modesto, Calif.; Mrs. Robert (Fern) Newsome, of Ramsey; and Mrs. Ray (Winifred) Driscoll of Decatur; three brothers, Frank Gilbert of La Puente, Calif.; John of Ashton, and Ezekiel of Pana; three sisters, Mrs. Susie Roland of Pana; Mrs. Lizzie Roland of Azusa, Calif.; and Mrs. Mary Roland of Duarte, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Two children, one brother and one half-sister preceded her in death.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at J. J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oconee Cemetery.
