John T. "J.T." Peterson, age 91, of Bauxite, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012. He was born September 18, 1920 in Leola, Arkansas. Mr. Peterson was retired from Alcoa as a mine superintendent. He was a W.W. II Army Veteran and a member of West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Webster and Della Ray Peterson; brother, Kenneth Peterson and a sister, Odelia Lenger.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, DeLena Peterson of Bauxite; daughter, Kathy Glover and husband William of Bauxite; son, James Thurston and wife Edith of Sardis; two sisters, Islarea Caviness of Mission, Texas and Ann Hudson of Bauxite; four grandchildren, Jennifer Glover, John Thurston, Joanna Strike and Jessica Thurston and four great-grandchildren, Brielle Glover and Josiah, Isaiah and Cassia Strike.
Pallbearers will be Chase Alexander, Dan Peterson, Gary Peterson, John Peterson, John Thurston and Mike Caviness. Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Alexander, Chad Strike, Eddie Jones and Ricky Teague.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 16 at Ashby Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17 at West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church with burial at New Friendship Cemetery. Bro. Melvin Burris will be officiating.
