Born April 2, 1927 in Curwensville, PA he was the son of Frank and Marie (Patterson) Hipps.
He retired from the former Harbison Walker Refractories, Clearfield and after that had worked for the King Coal Company of Philipsburg, PA.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. He was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his wife Joan L. (Peters) Hipps whom he married November 2, 1948, two sons Frank Hipps, Sr. and his wife Glenna of Olanta, PA and Tim Hipps and his wife Trudy of Manheim, PA, four grandchildren Frank Hipps, Jr., Holly Hipps, Tim Hipps II and Tarrah Berrier. Also surviving are two great grandchildren Paige Jean Palmer and Hunter Carl Hipps, a sister Arlene O'Donnell and her husband Jim of Clearfield and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles J. Swenson and Rev. Sam Maines officiating. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery. Friends will be received at The Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday at the church from 11:45 A.M. until 12:45 P.M. Military honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Post's Honor Squad.
The family suggests that contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice OR Home Health, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830.
