Dies at Home
in What Cheer
Mrs. W. G. Allen, 73, died at her home in What Cheer Saturday as a result of a heart ailment. Funeral was at the Church of Christ ? afternoon, with service by the Rev. W. A. Purdy of that church and the Rev. J. C. Porath of the Methodist church. Burial was at Springfield cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born in Keokuk county near Keenersburg in August, 1865 and spent most of her life in this county. In 1884 she was married to Nelson Waterhouse. To them were born one son and three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Pringle of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Hazel Blacketer of What Cheer; Icie Dahlstrom of Gibson; Gilbert Waterhouse of Des Moines. All were present at the funeral. Mr. Waterhouse died in 1915.
In 1917 she was married to William Mikesell, who died in 1918. In October, 1921, she was married to William G. Allen. They had been married for 17 years at the time of her death. Mrs. Allen was always active in church work.
She had five brothers, two of whom are living and were at the funeral; Dan of What Cheer and Charles of Jamestown, N. D.; five half sisters and four half brothers. Surviving are her husband, her children, and her brothers.
