MOUNT DESERT — Brent T. Fournier, 30, died Dec. 5, 2011, at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Brent was born in Southbridge, Mass. on Nov. 12, 1981, the son of Roy Fournier and Cynthia (Comeau) Parady. As a teenager Brent went to Bay Path High School in Charlton, Mass. and Mount Desert Island High School. During his younger years Brent loved to play hockey, ride motorbikes and all terrain vehicles, and work on any motor in the neighborhood.

After high school Brent used his mechanical skills and love of tinkering in many different areas of work. In recent years he also found a love of the sea and worked on fishing boats as a sternman. Brent's greatest love was the outdoors. He enjoyed nothing more than a day at the lake putting around the lake fishing/wake-boarding and swimming. The last two summers Brent learned to sail and became a enthusiastic member of the Molasses Pond Sunfish club. Even when it was his day off Brent could never sit still and would work on his motorcycle or his vehicle or find some sort of project.

Brent cherished his friendships from Massachusetts to Maine. Nobody who knew Brent will ever forget his beautiful smile and his willingness to lend a helping hand.

Brent is survived by his father Roy Fournier and his wife Melinda (Ernst) of Southbridge, Mass. He is also survived by his mother Cynthia (Comeau) Parady and her husband Steven Parady of Mount Desert, his stepbrother and sister, Sean and Tia Parady, maternal grandparents Ken and Yvette Comeau of Florida, and many aunts and uncles and cousins. Brent will be lovingly missed by his fiancé and the love of his life, Jody Silk of Bar Harbor.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Theodore and Doris Fournier of Southbridge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Bar Harbor at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the United Way of Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton, 155 Main St , Southbridge MA 01550, or the Hancock County SPCA in Trenton, Maine.
