He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve Adams in 1983; his oldest daughter, Mary Bolton in 1996; three brothers; and three sisters.
He is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Genevieve Martin, Rochester, N.Y., Irene Matthews, Windsor, Kathryn Krise, Binghamton, Carol and Richard (Barney) Barnes, Binghamton; a son and daughter-in-law, George W. Adams, Chief Petty Officer U.S. Navy, retired and Susan Adams, Chief Petty Officer U.S. Navy, Active, Pace, Fla.; 15 grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Diana Martin, Castle Creek; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Moyle and Dorothy Nickerson, both of Endicott; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Doris Adams, Asheville, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Eunice Adams, Campbell, N.Y.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Edna Gaynor, Fla.; also several nieces, nephews; and a good friend, Tom Canniff, Castle Creek.
He was a retired employee of the Ansco Corp. in Binghamton with over 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Elvin S. Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Broome County Veteran's Memorial Association, Inc., 76 Main St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905 or a Veteran's group of your choice in George Washington Adam's memory.
