Funeral Sunday for Gladys L. Antonson
St. Charles - The funeral for Gladys L. Antonson will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles with the rev. James Doll of Oak Hills Wesleyan Church in Rochester officiating. Burial will be in Berea Moravian Cemetery north of St. Charles.
Mrs. Antonson, 85,of St. Charles, formerly of Rochester, died Thursday at Whitewater Manr Healthcare Center in St. Charles.
Born Gladys L. Dawson on July 5, 1905, in Rollingstone, she graduated from St. Charles High School in 1924 and then attended the Hattie Boyd Normal School in St. Charles for a year. For two years she taught at District 42 school north of St. Charles and for a year in a rural school near Lewiston. On Oct. 23, 1926, she married Herman Antonson and they farmed in the Lewiston area for a time before moving to a farm north of St. Charles. After her husband's death Dec. 20, 1959, she moved to Rochester and was a housekeeper at the Parker Hotel, Holiday Inn and Martin Hotel. Mrs. Antonson had resided at Whitewater Manor since 1979. A member of Oak Hills Wesleyan Church in Rochester, she belonged to its ladies aid and Bible study group, and had been active in nursing home activities until recently.
Survivors include a son, Stanley of Rochester; a daughter, LaVonne (Mrs. David) Christie of Stockton; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister Viola (Mrs. Clem) Koepsel of St. Charles. A son and a great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from noon until time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
