Jacob Hildebrand, aged 82, died last evening at the Hildebrand home in South Fork, where he had been ill with paralysis for over two and a half years. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, when services will be conducted by his pastor the Rev. M. E. Borger, of the South Fork United Evangelical Church. The services will be in charge of Daniel T. Stineman Post, Grand Army of the Republic to be assisted by the Sons of Veterans there. Jacob Hildebrand was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Hildebrand and was born in Jackson Township, this county. He was a brother of Aaron Hildebrand, an old soldier in the National Military Home, Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Mary Angus of the South Side. The deceased was a soldier in the Civil War, having been a private in Company F, 56th Regiment, He was one of the few survivors of the union army and was in many of the battles fought in and around Richmond and could vividly recall the battle of Five Forks, the battle of the Wilderness and many others. He served over three years and was honorably discharged in July, 1865, near Washington. Mr. Hildebrand was member of the United Evangelical Church, Daniel T. Stineman Post, G.A.R. and was the first Burgess of South Fork. He was a carpenter by trade. Mr. Hildebrand's family consists of four sons: Abram L. of Grove Avenue; William L. of South Fort; Charles E. and John of South Fork, and one daughter; Jennie, wife of D. M. Berkey of South Fork.
