Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery Saturday at 10 a.m. for Taft resident Velma Margaret Minor, 78. The Rev. Sam White, pastor of the Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate at the services. Mrs. Minor was born on March 29, 1917 in Quinter, Kan., and passed away June 28 in a Bakersfield hospital. She had been a resident of Taft since 1957. Mrs. Minor enjoyed her grandchildren and her collection of cookbooks. Her survivors include her children and their spouses, Jim and Pat Minor of Taft, Sharon Noel of Taft, Doylene and Roy Doughty of Ridgecrest, and Janis Stevens of Redlands; a sister, Yvetta Patterson of Quinter; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations may be sent in Mrs. Minor's memory to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Friends may call at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Friday from 1 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to pay their respects.
