RALPH M. PETTIT passed away on January 21, 2012, after a lengthy battle with kidney disease. He was born in Houston on Feb. 7, 1933, to Doris and Harry Pettit, who preceded him in death. He was proud to be a native Houstonian, graduate of Jeff Davis High School, and Texas A&M University, where he majored in chemical engineering, class of 1955. Upon graduation he served in the USAF as a pilot. When his military commitment was over he embarked on a career in the oil business, where he was highly respected, retiring from Hercules Chemical in 1992.
He is preceded in death by sisters Doris Moloney, Adalaide Myers, and brother Robert Pettit. Brothers Harry and Arthur survive.
He is also survived by wife of 54 years, Jane, son Ron and wife Liz and son Kevin, son Greg and wife Karen, and daughter Rhonda, and many nieces and nephews, who will all miss him dearly. He was a loving husband and father and a good friend to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, at Klein Funeral Home, Champions. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 26, at Cypress United Methodist Church, 13403 Cypress N. Houston Rd., Cypress, TX 77429. Private interment will take place at Houston National Cemetery.
