Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette for Kenneth Lee Whitaker, 87, died at 5:55 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette.
Ken will be remembered for his many years of work and retirement from KLFY-TV 10 as an advertising salesman. Ken is also known for his development of Hidden Hills Lake in St. Landry Parish. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was a veteran of WWII.
Survivors include sons, Gary Lee Whitaker and wife, Connie, of Lafayette, William Herb Whitaker and wife, Susan, of Auburn, Calif., and Bruce Whitaker and wife, Kara of Maui, Hawaii; daughter, Judy Guidry and husband, Jimmy, of Scott; and six grandchildren, Ashley, Jake, Kelly and Bodhi Whitaker and Loni Shaw and husband, Michael and Larry Vegas, III; 2 great grandchildren, Luke John Rollins and Lilee Claire Shaw.
