Graveside services for Leora Pauline "Cookie" Morton Davis will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 1 p.m. in the West Side District Cemetery. Jim Stigall of Community Christian Fellowship will officiate at the services. "Cookie" passed away at her home in Taft on Thursday, March 16 due to heart problems. She was 62. Cookie was born August 25, 1937 in Taft and she lived all her life in Taft. She was an avid bowler and for many years served as an officer in the local bowling leagues. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren "Bud" Davis in 1977. She leaves a son, Joseph "Joe" Davis of Mariposa; daughter Sammie and son in law Randy Brown of Modesto; a granddaughter, Robin and her husband Josh Zuire of Taft; two great grandson, Anthony and David Zubiate; and three great granddaughters, Ayla, Tianna and Summer Davis. She also leaves her mother, Imogene Morton, who is currently residing in an Alzheimer's home in Bakersfield; sister Belva Lee Taylor of Mariposa, John and his wife Eula Morton of Valley Acres, bob and his wife Sandy Morton of Taft, Rocky and his wife Donna Morton of Morgan Hill, and sister Debbie and her husband Sandy Kiser of Maricopa. She also leaves many friends in Taft. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sorely missed. Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2000 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at West Side Family Mortuary. Friends who wish may donate to the Heart Fund.
