An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on April 8, 1926 for Miss Laura Harris, a sister of O. W. Harris of Shelbyville, states that she had died at the Eastern Star Home in Macon, Saturday [April 3, 1926]. Miss Harris was born in Sullivan County, Indiana in 1864. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Harris of Shelbyville, who conducted a hotel in Shelbyville for many years. She was survived by three brothers and a sister – O. W. Harris, Shelbyville; Herman Harris, Roodhouse; Everett Harris, Manila, P. I.; and Mrs. Claude Monahan, Denver, Colorado. Funeral services were held from the Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. E. K. Masterson. The Order of Eastern Star of which she was a member had charge of the burial service in Glenwood Cemetery.
