FLORENCE Margaret Magdalene Rhodes McAbee, 92, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, in a local hospice facility after an illness.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2008, in Northgate Baptist Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Thurman and Jean Best, 205 S. Wellington Drive in Florence.

She was born in Mullins, SC, a daughter of the late Mike and Ida Harriett Lovette Rhodes. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. McAbee was a member of Northgate Baptist Church and the Lora Clement Sunday School Class.

Survivors include eight children, Ida Margaret M. (Billy) Dailey, Jean M. (Thurman) Best, Iris M. Collins, Susan M. (Jay) Merrifield, all of Florence, Helen McAbee of Irmo, SC, Charles E. McAbee, Jr. of Theodosia, MO, Richard M. McAbee of Lugoff, SC, and W. Mike McAbee of West Plains, MO; 17 grandchildren, Alison Dailey, Chris Dailey, Gregg Daily, Alan Dailey, Lisa Best Deramo, Bruce Williamson, Steve Williamson, Bryan Williamson, Rebecca W. Siguenza, Cynthia McAbee, Margie McAbee, Eddie McAbee, Marty McAbee, Michael Collins, Kelly Collins Patsches, Phoebe Capps Rogers, Marla Crouse; 23 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, William Dailey; two great-grandsons, Will Dailey and Timothy Boling; three sisters, Edna R. Snyder, Lillie Belle R. Hinson, and Lelia R. Cope; three brothers, Woodrow Rhodes, Richard Rhodes, and Mike Rhodes.
