Dayle L. Dougherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Dougherty, was born 9-3-1906 in Cumberland, Iowa. She came to the Spencer, SD area with her family and grew up in the Spencer area. On 2-9-1929 Dayle married Martin Lanners in Salem. After their marriage they farmed in the Spencer-Salem area until 1956 when they moved to Salem, SD. Mrs. Lanners worked in the school lunch program at Salem public school for several years after they moved into Salem. Mr. Lanners died in 1975 after which Dayle moved into Hill Center apartments where she resided until her death on Sunday 3-14-1982 in Sioux Falls, SD.
She reached the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 11 days. Dayle was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Salem, of the Christian Mothers Society and was an honorary member of the altar society.
Survivors include two sons, Dwaine of Slinger, Wisconsin; and Jack of Charlotte, North Carolina; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Maralyn) Marks of Salem, SD; and Mrs. Russ (Jeanette) Ball of Sioux Falls, SD; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two sisters.
