Lyle Russell Boyd, 92, of Robinson, died at 9:30a.m. on January 21, 2012 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born February 22, 1919 in the Grassy Hollow area, the son of Charles Catlin and Alta Mae (Mills) Boyd. After graduating from Robinson High School in 1937, Lyle served in the U.S. Navy from April 26, 1944 to February 17, 1946 during WWII on submarine duty as an Electrician's Mate 3rd Class. He was an automobile mechanic and operated his own business on North Jackson St. for many years, until failing health forced him to retire. After selling his mechanic business, he started a jewelry-making business, and had clients coming from miles around to purchase his handicraft. He was also active in the Crawford County Civil Defense group in Crawford County.

At the age of 87, he accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior and attended church services faithfully at Brookstone Assisted Living and Ridgeview Care Center.

On June 11, 1939, he married Marilyn Correll of Hutsonville and she survives. He is also survived by four sons, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Charles Calvin and John Noah Boyd; his sister, Doris Alta (Boyd) Mieure; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Maxine Boyd.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25 at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Rev. Jack Kilburn officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Hutsonville Cemetery at a later date.
