Mrs. M. P. Fenton has Lived in Oregon since 1865.
Sick woman lives at home of daughter, who is one of ten children, nine of whom are living. Mrs. Margaret Pinkerton Fenton, 86, a native of Kentucky but a resident of Oregon since 1865, and of Portland for 16 years, is critically ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A C Spencer, 526 Myrtle Street, this city. Mrs. Fenton has been in poor health for some time. Mrs. Fenton was born in Knox County, Kentucky, April 19, 1830, the daughter of David and Mary Pinkerton. At the age of 15 she removed with her parents to Missouri, and on October 16, 1851, was married to James Davis Fenton. Fourteen years later she came to Oregon, settling first at French Prairie, near Salem. From that place she moved to Yamhill County and came to Portland in 1890. Mrs. Fenton is the mother of Mrs. Arthur C Spencer, of Portland; Mrs. G W Landess, of Carlton, Or.; F W Fenton of McMinnville; H L Fenton of Dallas; James E Fenton of San Francisco; and Dr J D Fenton, W D Fenton, Dr M F Fenton and Dr Hicks C Fenton, all of Portland. A son, Charles R Fenton, died at Spokane in 1893.

Funeral for Early Settler to be Held at 11 o'clock.
The funeral services for Mrs. Margaret P. Fenton, prominent early settler, who died Saturday night at midnight, will be held this morning at 11 o'clock at Finley's undertaking establishment chapel. The body will be sent to McMinnville, where burial services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs Fenton was 85 years old. She was formerly Margaret Pinkerton of Kentucky, having come to Oregon in 1866. Mrs. Fenton had been ailing for several weeks and her life had been despaired of for more than a week. Death occured at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur C Spencer, 562 Myrtle street.

Mrs Margaret A. Fenton, a pioneer of Missouri and an early settler of Oregon, died last night at midnight at the home of her daughter, Mrs Arthur C Spencer, 562 Myrtle street. She was 85 years of age. Margaret Fenton was born in Knox County, Kentucky, April 19, 1830, and was the oldest child of David and Mary Pinkerton. The Pinkertons were from North Carolina and originally from Scotland. Her mother, Mary Turtle, was born in Kentucky and the family moved to Kentucky from Virginia in an early day. Mrs. Fenton, with her parents, moved to Missouri in 1846 and settled in what is now known as Clark County. On October 16, 1851, she was married to James Davis Fenton, who died in Yamhill County February 8, 1886. Mrs. Fenton and her husband located in Scotland County, Missouri, where they resided until they left for Oregon on May 2, 1865. They came with their family by emigrant wagon train, and after a tedious journey of five months and 11 days, reached the Willamette Valley, and in the Spring of 1866 located in Yamhill County. In 1890 she came to Portland and had lived in this city continously since that time. She was reared on the farm and was accustomed to all the hardships and privations of pioneer life in Missouri and had witnessed the development of the State of Oregon for more than 50 years. The mother of ten children, eight sons and two daughters, she was a woman of vigorous constitution. All of her children survive her, excepting Charles B Fenton, who died in Spokane in October, 1893. Surviving are: William D. Dr J D, Dr Mathew F, and Dr Hicks C Fenton of Portland; James E of San Francisco; Frank W of McMinnville and h L Fenton of Dallas, and Mrs amanda F Landess, residing near Carlton; and Mrs Arthur D Spencer of Portland.
