Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Egner Abbott, age 87, of Roebuck, SC, died March 12, 1996, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A native of Springfield, MA; daughter of the late John George and Augusta Susan Leauschner Egner; wife of Edgar Clary Abbott (1902–1976).

A member of El Bethel United Methodist Church, past president of United Methodist Women, former Sunday School teacher, served on the Administrative Board and Council on Ministries, served as a den mother, and was co-founder of Spartan Bakery.

Survivors include a son, Edgar Clary "Buddy" Abbott, Jr. (1902–1976); daughter, Arline Abbott Trim; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Wednesday, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel.

Services were held at 11:00 am, Thursday, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, conducted by Rev. Burton Ott; entombment in Greenlawn Mausoleum, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials made to El Bethel United Methodist Church.
