John William Potts was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, December 3, 1858, and departed this life September 17, 1926, at the age of 67 years, nine months and fourteen days.
When he was a small child he moved with his parents to Iowa and later to a farm in Rush County, Kansas, where he grew to manhood.
He was united in marriage to Jennie L. Spahr in April, 1886 and she departed this life July 19, 1909.
To this union was born six sons and one daughter, Roy of Hope, Mrs. Harry (Josie) Rediker of Hope, Earl and Albert of Iola. Three sons died in infancy. This leaves the three sons and one daughter besides a sister to mourn his loss.
Mr. Potts and family have been residents of Hope since 1913 and the deceased has been employed at different occupations, being with the Hope Condensary for years.
Funeral Services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., at the Methodist Church, Rev. C.E. Woodson in charge. The body was laid to rest beside that of his wife at White City Cemetery.
Walter Potter, Dewey Burch, John Krueger, Rbt. Huffman, Albert Strine and Chas. Bessey were the pall bearers.
