Clyde Nathaniel Apple, 95 of Danville, departed from this life on Friday, March 25, 2016 in Knoxville, TN.

He was born June 10, 1920, in Havana, Arkansas, to the late Ozzo and Mamie Estelle Jennings Apple.

He spent his childhood in Western Yell County, but lived most of his adult life throughout the world while serving thirty two years in the United States Air Force.

He was a veteran of three wars: World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.

He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and a member of the Arkansas Breeders, Trainers, and Horsemen’s Association.


After retiring from the Air Force, and moving back to Arkansas, he raised and raced thoroughbreds in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Juliana B. Apple; a son Robert D. Apple; his second wife Lila White Tygart Apple; brothers, Wayne Ozzo Apple, Euell Kent Apple, Jennings Ray Apple; and sister, Margaret Apple Bull.

Survivors include a brother, Gordon (Nancy) Apple of Little Rock; a son Jody (Evelyn) of Knoxville; a son, Charles (Janell) Apple of South Bend; a daughter, Lina (Chris) Eisenhardt of Catskill, NY; five granddaughters Teshanna (Joe) Brunner, Desiree Tefft, Julia Apple, Adrienna Apple and Kayla Apple; three grandsons Jonathan (Hayli) Apple, Benjamin Apple, and Joshua Apple; five great grandchildren, Kennedy and Jacob Brunner, Jameson and Tori Brockett, and Madison Apple; three nephews, Donnie Wayne Apple, James Lynn and Travis Paul Bull; four nieces, Doris Apple Radley, Debbie Apple Musch, Sandra Apple-Bush and Margaret Ann Bull Voss; step-sons Bobby Tygart and Paul Tygart; brother-in-law Dean O. White; and friends Bob and Lin McCool.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday April 1, 2016 at the Danville Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 31, and 9:00 to 10:00 am before the service at the Chapel. Burial will be at Havana Cemetery.
