News-Herald Obit dated Jun 7, 2009
Lloyd Garrison Averill Jr., age 81, of League City, Texas, passed away Oct. 1, 2008, in Texas.
Lloyd was born June 29, 1927, in Perry, the son of Lloyd and Dorothy Hull Averill. He lived many years in the Perry area before moving to Texas. Mr. Averill was a retired chemical operator. It would be an understatement to say that Lloyd loved travel. He saw a lot of the world as a member of the Merchant Marines in World War II. Later in life, his travels were as diverse as flying prize cows to Cuba, sailing the Great Lakes on freighters and driving to the Arctic Circle with his truck and camper. Yes, Lloyd loved to travel. He will also be remembered for his tall tales and his wonderful smile. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Williams; his wife of 40 years, Shirley Jacobs Averill; sons, Garrison and Gregory Averill; brother, Sterling Averill; sister, Ruth Anderson; and favorite companion, his dog, Pansey. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville. The Rev. Stephen Fisher of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison will officiate. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Lake Metro Parks Lakeshore Reservation at N. Perry, 11211 Spear Road, Concord Township, OH 44077. Local arrangements are being handled by The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057.
