GENERAL ORDERS
NUMBER 56
ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEATH
It is my sad duty to announce the death of Cadet Harry Evans Lardin, Jr., a member of the Class of 1961, United States Corps of Cadets, whose death occurred as the result of a heart attack at West Point, New York, on 4 November 1957.
The late Cadet Lardin was born in El Paso, Texas, on 15 June 1937, a son of Colonel and Mrs. Harry Evans Lardin.
While at the United States Military Academy, Cadet Lardin was conscientious in his studies, attaining proficiency in all subjects. In addition to the fulfillment of his academic duties, Cadet Lardin was a member of the Corps Swimming Squad. He was in all respects a young man of excellent character, personality, and promise who had well justified his appointment to the United States Corps of Cadets.
I extend the deep and sincere sympathy of myself and the officers, cadets, and other members of this command to the parents of the late Cadet Lardin in their bereavement. His unfortunate and untimely death is mourned as a distinct and regrettable loss to all who knew him well.
