S.B.O. is the son of Alexander 'Alex' McCall and Rebecca Osborne.
(Note: his mother Rebecca was a twin of Champion Osborne, parents were Jeremiah Osborne and Polly Ann Blythe.)

Sion Blythe Osborne McCall married Melinda Merrill SHIPMAN, daughter of Hezekiah 'Henry' Shipman and Hannah Rhodes/Rhoads.

They had four children:
Silas Milton (1854-1932)
James Franklin (1858-?) he may have died before 1870 census.
Mary 'Mamie' Jane (Mrs. Lemuel Furman Hood) (1859-1940)
Daniel Webster (1863-1942)

The maiden name Shipman for mother appears on two children's death certificates.

Widowed in 1863, he married Catherine M. 'Kate' Dawson, January 11 1865, Henderson County, NC.
