THOUGHTS about Delsie:
I really respect Delsie and admire her strong, optimistic, friendly, kind, and cheerful personality. What a life she has bravely lived with both strength and grace.

She began life in a one-room log house in the Arkansas Ozarks, lost her mother at age 7, and walked to Oklahoma behind a covered wagon at age 10. Delsie knew hard work and raised chickens, worked in fields, picked and chopped cotton, picked grapes to make raisons, and wrapped grape vines.

She married Henry Haskell Allen, a man who loved to dance and laugh. Then one day just 4 years later, when he went out to gather the geese, Delsie with their 23-month-old son, Bill Haskell Allen, had to endure the shock of having her husband found dead by the side of the road. (He was known to suffer from epileptic seizures).

After being a widow for 10 years, Delsie married Rufus Anderson whom she had known since childhood. This marriage blessed Delsie with two more wonderful children, Barbara Jean and Jerry Lee. "Rube" passed away after 19 years of marriage making Delsie a widow once again. She remained a widow for the last 34 years of her life.

Delsie has worked hard to make her way in the world. I was privileged to sit and visit with her only once, but her wonderful stories and amazing spirit made quite an impression on me, and I will remember her always. She made the world a better place and graced us with her presence. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her loved-ones.
