The name Melvina Alcorn came from an article in the Atchison Daily Globe Nov 12, 1904.
The inscriptions on the stones in the Hudspeth cemetery are interesting and many old timers will recall the names on them. Here are a few: " John P. Graves, died in 1872," "Mrs. Mary Stewart, died in 1851, "Simon, son of George Keel, died in 1864" "Eliza Andrews, died in 1853" "Melvina Alcorn, died in 1859" "Infant triplets, daughters of R. and M. A. Alcorn, died in 1853" "George Scott, died in 1858."
