Mrs. Avis Fletcher Rodgers of Land's Crossing, died June 3, 1998 in Ocilla. She was 84.

Mrs. Rodgers was born December 4, 1913 in Turner County, the daughter of Elbert and Rachel Fletcher. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Rodgers was a member of Abba Baptist Church. She had lived most of her life in Irwin County. She was a 1931 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and a graduate of Georgia Teachers College. She taught elementary school at the cotton Mill and at Irwinville. Mrs. Rodgers was a former member of the Home Demonstration Club and past Treasurer and past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Osceola Chapter #431.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ebb Rodgers.

Survivors include 4 daughters, Julia Denmark, Rae Giddens, Jane Rodgers all of Lands Crossing and Ginger Lepley of Tallahassee, FL.,; one brother: W. Harrison Fletcher of Logansville; two sisters, Jessie Rodgers of Columbia, S.C. and Mildred Fletcher of Irwinville; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services were held at Abba Baptist Church and Interment followed at Abba Baptist Church Cemetery with Eastern Star Rites.

Paulk Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
