"Nappy," as he was known to family and friends was a veteran of the Civil War. He served in Turney's Brigade, but after only a few months was injured (shot in the thigh) and then became deathly ill from the injury. He was discharged from service due to his injury and illness. He was brought home from Virginia on board a train. Nappy was married to Adelia "Delia" Adiline Webb from Peach Grove, Morgan County, Alabama on June 11, 1852. They had the following children: John, Martin, Frances Elizabeth, Charles, Robert, William Thomas, Mark and Mahulda. Nappy was said to be a peddler by trade and enjoyed a "good" fight on a regular basis. His approximate grave site is marked by a Confederate marker. The original marker was destroyed and therefore we were uncertain of the exact location in the cemetery. The records did not reflect an exact location.
