He was past commander of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War of Beverly. Survived by three sisters, Hattie Flaherty of California and Marlina Tucer and Ida Seavey, both of Maine; a brother, Philip Sinclair of Florida; nine grand-children; and 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Manley R. Caler and Lorraine Hatch.
