Thomas Akers, 71, 2400 NW 49, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital following an extended illness. Services are pending with Hahn-Cook, Street & Draper Funeral Home.
Akers was born in Lebanon, Virginia, and came to Oklahoma City two years ago. He was retired from Dallas Power & Light Co. He was former chief of police and mayor of Spand Springs. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of World War I and World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Geneva; two sons, J. W. and Donald; and a daughter, Mrs Norma Jean Williams, all of Dallas; and two sisters, Mrs Katherine Williams, Dallas; and Mrs Ada Fleenor, Anderson, CA.
