John J. Meyer came over from Germany as a child. Father of seven children. Built family home on Green Street Road in 1897. A 1910 Census record states that he came to America the same year in which he was born (1853)... arriving as an infant. A family newspaper clipping corroborates this.

TENNESSEE PRAIRIE

"John Meyer, one of our prominent farmers and respected neighbors, died at his home on April 28, 1913. Mr. Meyer was born in Germany Jan. 6, 1853. He came to this country while a babe in his mother's arms. Rev. Sudth preached the funeral at the Zion Hill church April 25. Interment at Zion Hill Cemetery. He was married to Mart Gherig on March 19, 1879. To this union seven children were born, four boys: Edward, Charlie, Samuel, and Louis; three girls: Mrs. Lillie Dunbar, Cora and Clara, all of whom survive him. Besides his family he lives one sister, three grandchildren, and a host of neighbors and friends. But our loss is heaven's gain."
